Oddkin's founder is Italian, and many of their products are sourced from Italy. They also host farm shares in Sicily, which are focused on foraging and living off the land. During our research phase, we stumbled upon the goldmine of archived Italian "Erbarios," or herb journals, which felt perfect for these themes. Because these are in the public domain, they are free to use. We then translated these illustrations into patterns whose organic charm worked well as illustrative elements for the brand.
Using our brand palette, we worked with Friend of a Friend to create still lives that worked harmoniously across our marketing materials and website.
For our palette, we relied on natural tones, and extended this to our photography and brand materials. Our fonts are a combination of open-source and commercially licensed, with each feeling a bit "odd" with the quirkiness of their letterforms.
We worked closely with Oddkin's founder to design and build their website in Shopify. This included custom illustrations, design, and build.
